Bruce Campbell Talks Ash vs Evil Dead

By News

Dread Central recently caught up with Bruce Campbell who sheds some more details on Ash vs Evil Dead.

With the hotly anticipated television continuation of the Evil Dead film series “Ash vs. Evil Dead” in pre-production, we caught up exclusively this week with series executive producer and star Bruce Campbell, and fans can rejoice because the boomstick is back in a BIG way.

Having had a chance to read an early version of the pilot episode last year, I can concur. In it we are introduced to a nomadic Ash, a figure who’s not only haunted by traumatic memories but also terrorized by the unwelcome continuance of Deadite attacks, which have followed him to the myriad Midwestern trailer parks he’s been forced to call home. In an effort to eke out an existence and in keeping with his previous choice of career, the character spends his days working at Ted’s Superclub as a stock room trainee and, in true Ash fashion, his evenings chasing skirt in roadside bars.

With ten episodes ordered, Campbell told us that principal photography is slated for this April in New Zealand with a planned series debut on Starz and promised of his portrayal of the horror icon he helped to create (spoilers follow), “I’m bringing everything to the table. It’s a feisty version of Ash, who’s grizzled and just wants to be left alone.”

Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead by Dawn and Tales of the Ex-Mortis Launching This Summer

By News

Space Goat Productions has just announced two Evil Dead 2 Comic Book series launching this summer:

June heralds the return of the original Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi movie, Evil Dead 2. Space Goat is the official home of the comedy-horror franchise that started it all—and will be faithful to Ash and the original movie with two three-issue miniseries. Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead by Dawn and the July-shipping companion anthology, Evil Dead 2: Tales of the Ex-Mortis

Space Goat’s May-shipping books will include a two-part prequel to the Evil Dead 2 movie. Parts 1 and 2 of the prequel are written by screenwriter and Superman scribe Frank Hannah (The Cooler), illustrated by Edgar Salazar (DC’s Smallville and Constantine). The prequel leads directly into Evil Dead 2: Beyond Dead by Dawn #1.

Beyond Dead by Dawn is also written by Frank Hannah, with art by pencilers new to the US market, Barnaby Bagenda and Oscar Bazaldua. Tales of the Ex-Mortis reads more like Hellraiser with jokes and features stories from industry veterans Greg Pak, Jeff Mariotte, Justin Peniston, Georgia Ball, Ivan Cohen, and more.

Ray Santiago & Dana DeLorenzo Cast in Ash Vs Evil Dead

By News

Deadline reports that Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo have been cast as Ash’s sidekicks in Starz’s upcoming 10-episode series Ash vs Evil Dead.

Ray Santiago (Touch) and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) have been cast opposite Bruce Campbell in Starz’s 10-episode series Ash Vs Evil Dead, the followup to the cult film franchise. In it, Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the evildeadaging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal. Santiago, repped by TalentWorks, Levity Entertainment Group and Ginsburg Daniels, will play Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick – a Sancho Panza to Ash’s Don Quixote. Starz logoPablo believes in Ash’s heroism even if Ash himself doesn’t.
