The Evil Dead Characters

• 
• Ash
  In the first Evil Dead our awkward, dim-witted hero Ash hasn't developed any muscles or general prowess yet so he spends most of his time getting stuck in bookshelves and falling over rather than really helping anyone out. He offers to drive Cheryl back to town after her encounter in the woods only to find the bridge impassable. Returing to the cabin he can only watch as his sister and friends are possessed one by one. After Scotty flees through the woods Ash returns to Linda's side to see how she is holding up. Unfortunately for him she is quickly posessed and taunts him before finally attacking and being killed by Ash's hand. Scotty and Cheryl attack soon thereafter and through sheer dumb luck Ash manages to kill them.

• Cheryl
  Ash's sister and the odd woman out in the group. Typically she is the first to sense the danger surrounding the cabin and is entirely ingnored by her friends. Even after returning to the cabin battered, bruised, and half naked her friends dismiss her and decide she must have been attacked by an animal. She is the first of the group to become possessed by the Evil and attacks Linda with a pencil. To prevent further injury to the others she is locked in the cellar where she eventually escapes and together with Evil Scotty attacks Ash. She meets the same fate as Scotty when the Book of the Dead is destroyed in the fireplace.

• Linda
  Ash's girlfiriend and a bit on the slow side of things. She is very much in love with Ash and keeps a necklace he gave her close to her at all times. She is stabbed with a pencil in her ankle by Evil Cheryl and is unable to be moved out of the cabin. After Scotty leaves Linda becomes possessed and taunts Ash until she is dragged outside of the cabin and returns to attack Ash. After a struggle she falls onto the Kandarian Daggar and falls to the ground. Ash buries her outside and places a crude cross at her grave only to have her burst from the ground and tear at his leg. Once entirely free from the grave she runs at Ash who swings his shovel and takes off her head. Linda's headless body lands on Ash and spasms until finally remaning still.

• Shelly
  Scotty's girlfriend and probably the least developed character in the film. After Cheryl is possessed Shelly retreats back to her room where she is possessed by the Evil which hurls itself through a window. Soon after she viciously attacks Scotty who has no choice but to stab and dismember her. With help from Ash Shelly is buried outside the cabin.

• Scotty
  Good looking, cocky and a bit of a clown, if not for one unfortunate characteristic he would have been the ideal hero. Scotty holds his own fairly well until he is forced to kill Shelly who became possessed by the Evil. Soon after her demise he chooses to take his chances with the woods and escape the cabin leaving Ash on his own to tend to an injured Linda. He returns seriously injruied only to become posessed by the Evil and meet his ultimate demise at the hands of Ash.
