Kain's got some new casting news ...

Elizabeth Blackmore joins the cast, Jessica Lucas is in talks:

I'm keeping an eye out for any news and/or pics of the shooting location in New Zealand .. a Peter Jackson style video diary would be brilliant.

I found (and then lost) a link suggesting that the exact remake location is probably in Woodhill Forest in Aukland. This was the location for The Chronicles of Narnia, the CGI Yogi Bear and scenes from Xena Warrior Princess amongst others. Apparently Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi have very strong past connections to this location:

An Aukland company providing some resored furniture for the set:
B&D Upholstery Ltd. "Keep a lookout for the beige chequered fabric chairs and squabs when you get to see this movie." :

Dorothy 'Dot' Kyle is a production assistant coordinator for New Pacific Rennaisance Pictures currently working on the remake.:

Im not sure I like the idea of doing a remake. I just dont see how you can call a movie an Evil Dead movie without Ash. He has become an iconic horror figure. To me it just seems like a cheap way to cash in on movies that have a cult following. They've remade Halloween, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm St. Granted the first Halloween remake wasnt all that bad. Rob Zombie seems to have an idea on what he is doing but the other two were horrible. Especially the Nightmare on Elm Street remake. You can not do a Nightmare on Elm street movie without Robert Englund playing Freddy. I have my fingers crossed that Doug Bradley will return as the role of Pinhead when they do the Hellraiser remake but i doubt it. Now with all of that being said I dont like the feel of this remake there isnt a good track record of big name horror movies being remade that have been sucessful. There may never be an Evil Dead 4 ever made but there are always the games. At least those involve Ash and do carry on the storyline with the exception of Regeneration which was a What If? game. Ill end up seeing the remake when it comes out to give it the benefit of the doubt but to me no Ash and no humor mixed with horror makes for a no go in my book.

At least the original crew is behind it, and not a random group of Hollywood types... It has that going for it at least.

Thats true, Ill still go see it but I just dont have the highest hopes for it. Unless that pull of something really spectacular and not just one of those grueling pointless slasher type movies that deal with young people.

'Jane Levy will have prosthetics in Evil Dead remake' :

http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/4/23/jane-levy-will-have-prosthetics-in-evil-dead-remake.html

She's either joking or she's just leaked a big spoiler on her character's behaviour in this film (paragraph five in this article):

This gives away nothing and is just a close-up of a couple of bottles of fake blood from the set ... Alvarez is loving the tease ..
