Our own Cliff Holverson recently got to sit down and talk with special effects makeup artist from Evil Dead 2 Mark Shostrom about his work on the film and what he’s currently up to. The interview was quite long so we decided to split it up into three parts. Check out the first part here.
On a recent tour of the NECA studios, Jeff Saylor of Figures.com came took a shot of a painted prototype of Ash from the upcoming Evil Dead 2 line of figure. Evil Dead 2 figures will be revealed in a few weeks at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con.

We just got word from film historian Kate Egan, the author of the Evil Dead (Cultographies), the book will finally be released internationally this coming September. The book originally was slated be release last fall but was delayed by the publisher.

Co-owner Mark Shostrom has over 30 years of experience, multiple awards and is recognized as one of the premier special make-up effects artists of his generation. Mark Shostrom has worked with some of the most accomplished directors in modern horror and fantasy cinema. Assisting the likes of John Carpenter, Sam Raimi, David Cronenberg, Wes Craven, Stuart Gordon, Don Coscarelli, Tobe Hooper and Sean Cunningham to realize their celluloid nightmares. According to Dread Central, NECA unveiled the head of their first prototype figure of Bruce Campbell as Ash from Evil Dead 2.
Looks like they’re right on schedule to adhere to their plans of revealing their first Ash from Evil Dead 2 prototypes this July at the San Diego Comic-Con.
